Visitors to the Village of Hamilton will have a new lodging option starting on Aug. 15, as the newly refurbished Hotel One75 will open its doors at 175 Utica Street. 

More than 110 aspiring and published authors — alumni, parents, students, employees, local residents, and visitors from across the country — were on campus in June for the 27th annual ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Writers Conference. The event was spearheaded by Associate Professor of English Jennifer Brice, with assistance from four undergraduate Creative Fellows.

In the fall of 2017, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Research Associate Dennis Geist noted signs of imminent eruption at the Sierra Negra volcano in the Galápagos Islands. Little did he know at the time that his observations paired with a new volcanic forecasting program would lead to the accurate prediction of the eruption five months in advance.

Filmmaker Jacqueline King-Howell ’97 screened a portion of her upcoming documentary, Men of Mark, inspired by the work and research of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø trustee emerita Diane Ciccone ’74, P’10.

The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium, including ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, has been awarded a $1.5 million grant by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to create the NY6 Mellon Academic Leadership Fellows Program.

Environmental geography major Thomas Butler ’24, from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, describes his historical and geographical research on how perceptions of weather in upstate New York have changed over time.
