The Office of Equity and Diversity builds and fosters an inclusive campus climate that celebrates and empowers all members of our community and values our diverse and intersecting identities and affiliations.
Our Role
ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø values intellectual curiosity and knows that diversity, community, and connection are integral to achieving excellence. We cultivate leaders who recognize diversity, equity, and inclusion as fundamental pillars of critical thinking. Our focus on excellence seeks to move beyond an intellectual exercise to living our values within and beyond the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø community. To that end, the Office of Equity and Diversity:
- is a leading voice in the shaping and reshaping of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø’s strategic priorities, including its plan for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as part of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø’s Third Century Plan.
- strengthens campus culture of inclusion and belonging through workshops, trainings, and consultations.
- partners with departments and offices on campus, and provides consultation for DEI programming and event planning.
- oversees compliance with policies and laws addressing discrimination and harassment including sexual misconduct and relationship violence.
- leads and oversees campus-wide compliance to ensure that all aspects of student life are accessible, equitable, and inclusive of individuals with disabilities.
- oversees and coordinates accommodations and adjustments.
Building an Inclusive Community
Community and connection are integral to achieving excellence. Through programming and dialogue, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø weaves together diverse identities, backgrounds, life experiences, and perspectives. Our classrooms, residence halls, workspaces, and social spaces are enriched by this variety.
Events & Programs
Cultivating our ability to engage with equity and diversity often starts with educational experiences.
Diversity is a fact. Equity is a choice. Inclusion is an action. Belonging is an outcome.
