Outlines the process for installing the Global Protect VPN software and connecting to the University network with both personal and vlog Windows computers.

Background

Access to certain resources on vlog’s network requires being connected to that network, even when in remote (off­-campus) locations. This is done by using a VPN, which will connect a machine to vlog’s network regardless of physical location.

Requirements

  • A valid vlog username and password
  • Internet connection

Procedure

Note this can be used by students, faculty, and staff for personal computers, and for vlog issued Windows computers. 

 

Download the client for this VPN at .  

Enter your vlog network | SSO account credentials and click Log In.

Select the appropriate version for your computer and Install.  Most computers are “64 bit” so select the 64 bit installer file for Windows. (Do not install from the Windows store if you are prompted.)

If prompted, click Allow or Yes to Continue -

Click Next or Continue through the installation wizard and accept all the default options.

You may be asked to authenticate.  

 

 

 

Click Close when the installation is finished.

After the client is installed you will be prompted for a portal address.  

Type remoteaccess.colgate.edu and click Connect, as shown below.

Use your vlog network | SSO account credentials again when prompted.
