WEST POINT, N.Y. – The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø men’s and women’s track and field teams completed competition at the Patriot League Championship on Saturday. The women’s team finished sixth with 36 points, just six behind fifth place American. The men’s team scored five points at the meet to finish in eighth place.
In the second day of competition, sophomore Shannon O’ Hagan (Sarnia, Ont.) won gold in the high jump with a leap of 1.65 meters. That mark makes her the first female ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø track athlete ever to qualify for the NCAA Regional meet.
Freshman Nicole Christoforo (Rockland, Mass.) took second in the 800 meters with the third best mark in school history of 2:14.92.
The 4×100 team of O’Hagan, Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick (Royersford, Pa.), Lisa Germain (Queensbury, N.Y.), and Nolana Quince (Syracuse, N.Y.) posted the third best mark on the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø record board with a time of 49.68 seconds while finishing sixth in the event.
The 4×400 squad of Christoforo, Germain, O’Hagan, and Quince took sixth with a time of 4:01.21 to capture a point for ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.
Quince posted an outstanding performance in the heptathlon finishing fourth with 4,029 points. She registered personal bests in both the long jump and 800 meters in the final day of competition.
On the men’s side, senior Louis DiNuzzo (Loudonville, N.Y.) finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:57.39 to score for ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø. Freshman Mike Hanlon (Ann Arbor, Mich.) finished just shy of scoring in eighth place with a time of 15:07.10.
DiNuzzo also took fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a mark of 9:27.18 to register two more points for the Raiders. Senior Ian Hill (West Hartford, Conn.) finished just short of scoring in the 800 meters with a seventh place performance in 1:53.51.
Alex Fuller-Young (Phoenixville, Pa.) also had a solid performance in the 400 hurdles, taking eighth with a time of 56.69 seconds.
The women’s team is back in action on May 14-16 in Princeton, N.J. at the ECAC Championship. The men’s team will compete next Saturday at a meet hosted by Albany.
