Today is the last day of this semester’s classes, but I feel like that fact has not yet sunk in. Students have been occupied with completing their final class assignments and time seems to have slipped away. Next week marks the beginning of final exams as well as our last few days on campus.
Many students are feeling the pressure of the last push of the semester. However, whenever there are high stress levels on campus, there always seems to be something going on that either makes students smile or provides a moment for them to relax.
My favorite stress-relieving opportunity on campus was the Paws for a Break event, which happened in the Coop on Monday. The Shaw Wellness Institute here at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø brought Wanderer’s Rest dogs to help students take a break from their work with these friendly companions. The institute also brought massage therapists who gave students chair massages. Needless to say, other students and I were really excited about this event and thought it was a wonderful temporary distraction from our assignments.
As I was walking to my Challenges of Modernity class on Wednesday, I was surprised to discover a flash mob dancing on the Academic Quad. The students in the flash mob did a really great job and it provided for a much more enjoyable walk to class.
I have enjoyed every minute of my first year as a ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø student. Looking back on the fall and spring semesters, I remember the many unique opportunities I have had. Some standouts include a class trip to the Met, performances during Spring Party Weekend, and becoming involved in clubs like WRCU and DiRT. I have learned from my amazing professors in a variety of engaging courses.
However, what I have especially enjoyed this year was writing for ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø. Being able to look back at each week of my first year for this blog has given me the opportunity to appreciate all of the incredible experiences I have had. I look forward to continue writing for ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø when I begin my summer internship in the communications office. I would like to thank Tim O’Keeffe, Aleta Mayne, Rebecca Costello, my professors, and everyone else who has been so supportive of me during my first year here. I am really grateful.
I hope everyone has an exciting and sunny summer! Go ‘gate!
