OSCEOLA, FL ‘ Veteran pitchers Elena Isaac (Chandler, AZ) and Kate Howard (Wheaton, IL) posted back-to-back shutouts Saturday, as the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø softball team (17-5) defeated Wagner 5-0 and Vermont 8-0 at the Rebel Games.
ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø’s pitching staff has hurled 12 shutouts in the first 22 games this season for the Raiders.
In the opener against Wagner, Isaac (8-1) allowed four hits while striking out six and walking none. It was her 19th career shutout and moved her into fourth place for career wins in the Patriot League with 51.
Isaac had a RBI single in the second inning to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead, before ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø scored twice more in the third inning with Dorothy Donaldson (Lakeland, FL) connecting on a RBI single.
ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø’s final two runs were scored in the fifth inning on a RBI sacrifice bunt by Erin Hanna (Tucson, AZ) and Caitlin Martin’s (Lake Oswego, OR) RBI single.
ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø won the second game in five innings behind Howard (4-3). She allowed four hits, while striking out two and walking none. Howard moved into eighth place in career strikeouts (106) and fifth in career shutouts (7).
ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø led 1-0 before exploding for five runs in the third inning to take control of the game. Kim Olmstead (Spring Hill, FL) was 2-for-2 with a double, Nichole Rawson (Palmdale, CA) was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Natalie Rawson (Palmdale, CA) was 1-for-3 with a two-run double.
GAME NOTES: Donaldson moved into fifth place in career RBI with 80, 10th place in career runs with 70, a tie for 9th place in career hits with 123 and third place in career total bases with 225.
