Professor of Political Science and the Director of the Forum on Race and Public Policy Nina M. Moore has been appointed to a four-year team on the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced last week.
The commission, composed of 11 members, was established in 1978 by the New York State Constitution to review complaints of misconduct and disability against judges and justices of the State Unified Court System and, where appropriate, to discipline publicly those judges found to have engaged in misconduct.
Moore is the author of Governing Race: Policy, Process and the Politics of Race; The Political Roots of Racial Tracking in American Criminal Justice; and Toeing the Line: The Supreme Court, Race and Affirmative Action (forthcoming). She is a member of the editorial board of the Ralph Bunche Journal of Public Affairs and was named in Princeton Review’s Best 300 Professors in the United States. Her research and teaching interests center on the intersection of racial politics, institutional process, Supreme Court race jurisprudence, and criminal justice politics and policy.
Beyond ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, Moore has worked as a political consultant for mayoral and presidential campaigns, and she is the recipient of several grants and fellowships from organizations such as the Mellon Foundation; the Center for American Political Studies (Harvard University); Bush Faculty Program on Excellence in Teaching (University of Minnesota); Trustee Fellowship (University of Chicago), and the Committee on Institutional Cooperation Predoctoral Fellowship (University of Chicago).
She previously served as a New York State Senate appointee to the state Advisory Council on Underage Alcohol Consumption and Substance Abuse, and is a member of the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, and the National Conference of Black Political Scientists.
