Dear Members of the Hamilton Community,
The academic year is coming to an end at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, and our spring events season is about to begin. I write with a brief update on our plans for commencement and reunion, which will look slightly different this year.
Commencement takes place May 19–21, and we expect to welcome nearly 4,000 guests for the event. Two weeks later, June 1–4, we will see nearly 3,000 alumni and family members return to ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø for reunion. Due to construction work on the Benton Center for Creativity and Innovation, our traditional gathering point on Whitnall Field is not available for the festivities, so we will hold our celebrations between Oak Drive and the banks of Taylor Lake, instead.
This change in venue may have an effect on traffic flow through the village. The University has filed the traditional and appropriate permits, however, and the Hamilton police and fire departments are aware of the adjustments to our standard plan. We look forward to working with them — and with the rest of the community — to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and neighbors alike in the weeks ahead.
The arrival of commencement and reunion means that summer is just around the corner. I hope yours brings rest, relaxation, and time with loved ones.
Best,
L. Hazel Jack
Vice President for University Communications and Events
